Strictly Come Dancing 2015: week ten
Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton – Salsa to ‘‘I Want You Back’ by The Jackson 5’
Somebody thought it would be a nice idea to begin the routine with on screen texts and emojis. Let’s hope they were just on work experience this week. As for the Salsa, it was messy and all over the place. Bit too fast for Kellie to handle, I think. Maybe Kevin was a bit full on with the choreography and that highlighted some of Kellie’s weaknesses – not the way to go.
Judges: Craig 8, Darcey 8, Len 9, Bruno 9 = 34/40
Katie Derham and Anton Du Beke – Argentine Tango to Ástor Piazzolla’s ‘Libertango’
A tiny bit wobbly but lovely lines and strong shapes from Katie as Anton led her around the floor. The choreography was interesting to see because Anton doesn’t do this dance very often/at all and so it was a bit of a test for him as well. He played to Katie’s strength, which is important.
Judges: Craig 7, Darcey 8, Len 8, Bruno 9 = 32/40
Helen George and Aljaz Skorjanec – Viennese Waltz to the beautiful ‘At Last’ by Etta James
A traditional and gorgeous routine from a very stylish couple. Lovely in hold, lovely out of hold and you can’t ask for more than that, really. Ballroom really suits Helen.
Judges: Craig 9, Darcey 10, Len 10, Bruno 10 = 39/40
Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani – Tango to the Prince classic ‘When Doves Cry’
Very much enjoyed a strong Tango from the pair. Jay really feels the music and that really adds to his superb performances. Great choreography, as well.
Judges: Craig 9, Craig 10, Len 9, Bruno 10 = 38/40
Peter Andre and Janette Manrara – American Smooth to ‘Sweetest Feeling’ by Jackie Wilson
It wasn’t really much of the smooth with his confidence clearly rocked from last weekend. I felt it was a little too much story and not enough technique, though, which isn’t good for this stage of the competition.
Judges: Craig 7, Darcey 8, Len 8, Bruno 8 = 31/40
Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko – Rumba to ‘Read All About It’ by Emeli Sande
Well acted and Anita managed to make herself look comfortable in a dance she didn’t seem crazy about. Not much Rumba content and some Gleb rubbish around the routine which spoils it, completely.
Judges: Craig 7, Darcey 8, Len 7, Bruno 9 = 31/40
Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice – Paso Doble to ‘The Final Countdown’ by Europe
This dance cheered me up because Georgia opened with skirt work and lovely strong lines. Not sure it was *her* dance but, as an actress, she gave a decent go at it. Nice choreography from Giovanni but it could have done with more traditional Paso.
Judges: Craig 8, Darcey 8, Len 8, Bruno 9 = 33/40
Every couple danced the full term this year – no kicking off in the middle. So, it wasn’t as interesting on that basis alone.
7th – Peter and Janette
6th – Kellie and Kevin
5th – Jay and Aliona
4th – Anita and Gleb
3rd – Katie and Anton
2nd – Georgia and Giovanni
1st – Helen and Aljaz
